You will love this recipe because:
- It’s easy to make
- Contains no chemicals
- Costs significantly less than buying it from the store
- Contains only 3 ingredients that you probably have in your pantry.
Baking Soda acts as a gentle exfoliator that removes stains while disinfecting the gums and teeth. Coconut Oil is the base that binds everything together. Peppermint Essential Oil is antibacterial, therefore it kills and fights bacteria and germs, making it a great oil for dental health. You can alternatively use Tea Tree Essential Oil, as it has similar benefits.
Natural DIY Toothpaste
- 2 Tbsp Virgin Coconut Oil (softened at room temperature)
- 2 Tbsp Baking Soda
- 2 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Mix all ingredients together until smooth, then transfer to an airtight container.
Apply a pea sized amount to toothbrush, and brush as usual.
Store in a cool, dry place.
This toothpaste has a shelf life of 2-3 weeks (we recommend making only one batch at a time). You will know that it’s past its prime when the taste becomes bitter.
Essential oils are very concentrated and should be used with care. We recommend learning about each essential oil before use in order to fully benefit from them.
Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have pre-existing health conditions. Keep away from children and pets.
